Ummm... Mom, Dad... guess what.. that supreme court nomination? Not happening....

I know this has been all over but hey, we have to say something about it here:

(Warning: Features postage-stamp sized photo that, if you take a magnifying glass too it, might, under the proper light, be identifiable as a naked human posterior)

Why did the university try to bring charges against that photographer? It's the two people's own fault for standing too near a window... when having sex of all things...

The prof that defended the photographer is the same one who got the guy off on the "Water Buffalos" incident last year.

SteveDallas 12-03-2005 02:28 PM

It wasn't last year (unless there was another one I didn't hear about :worried: ) -- it was while I was at Penn in the early 90s.

Anyway, ashke, the short answer to your question is that many (most? all?) universities around here feel like they have to police their students' lives. I say, if anybody broke the law here (be it invasion of privacy by the photography or public lewdness by the couple), let the cops throw the book at them. If not, forget it.

A link on the page to an earlier article on the same subject indicates that the student "distributed" the naked photos. Emotional distress to the (apparently identifiable) girl in the picture and all. I bet she'll still file a civil suit.

Thank you! I hadn't seen it.....

I'm not actually sure how I feel about this. On one one hand, if I was having sex in my garden & my neighbour took a picture & showed it around my city, I'd think I had a right to feel aggrieved. On the other hand if I choose to have sex where someone might see me, I'd have to accept that person may choose not to be discreet.

I agree that the police should sort it out if there is a case to answer, otherwise all involved should simply learn from experience. Don't have sex in public, and don't distribute lewd pictures of other people without their consent.

And the girl involved can at least be pleased that she has photographic proof of just how good her arse looked when she was at college :)

If you say so.. the copies I've seen are of such low photographic quality that I don't even see how anybody can claim to be identifiable. Maybe there are better copies floating around that the newspapers didn't want to print....

Sundae 12-06-2005 11:37 AM

Ah but when she's accosting everyone who comes into the Sunshine Rest Home with her tattered old photo, who's going to have the heart to tell her it's not exactly valid proof?

Clodfobble 12-07-2005 09:25 AM

I think the ass is the guy's, and she's recognizable (but no mention of the guy) because she's facing outward. Maybe they counted the windows to figure out whose room it was too, I don't know.

Cyclefrance 12-07-2005 10:06 AM

See, this is what happens - you start with a photocopier and before you know where you are...

cowhead 12-31-2005 06:57 PM

okay.. when I was in college and for a while afterwards (well beforehand as well...) sex was and is something immediate and passionate..(as it should be) always understood the risks involved (and I made sure anyone I was with atleast got the "uh.. so.. you sure want to do THAT.. here?" and if the answer was yes..well there are possible problems with that..) the thing that bothers me is that in every damn cell phone these days there is a built in camera.. well.. maybe I don't have a problem with that anymore.. but.. suffie to say there is going to be alot more of that sort of 'reporting'.. aside from all that they are college students... fer crying outloud! they have sex! alot of it (of memory serves) what's the big deal? seems like cheap sensational reporting to me (or atleast they could have gotten a better picture.. and NO I am not putting it into photoshop to find out which ass it is ) :)
