Don't you love it when Multi Nationals don't always win

Unfortunately it ain't over till it's over. Walmart is appealing the verdict and I'd bet a weeks pay they'll fight this as long as they can.

Another reason I refuse to buy anything from that damn company...

I work an 8 hr shift and don't get a paid OR unpaid lunchbreak.

hmmmmmm.

I've emailed the link to my partners.

What a bunch of pansies.

Since the break is unpaid, the workers presumably worked from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with no lunch. Had they been given a 30 minute break, the workers would have had to work an extra 30 minutes till 5:30 pm to get 8 hours in. As it stands, they got to leave the unimaginable hell that is putzing around an air-conditioned store 30 minutes early. Good God - if the people that founded this country were as big a bunch of candy-asses that these people are, we'd be somewhere between Eritria and Estonia in the world pecking order.

I work 12 to 14 hours a day and average taking a lunch break about once a month. Cry me a freakin river.

What's a lunch break?

In my 30 years of working in various service and transportation jobs I rarely had a break, lunch or otherwise. If I was paid for the actual time I spent working OT and skipping lunches just to keep the customer happy, I would have maybe $10.00 in my pocket. Wal-Mart is not the only company that screws over their
workers. Just the only one that makes the news. BTW Hillery Rodham Clinton sat on the board of directors of Wal-Mart for years and still might. So much for an evil Republican run company.

But you probably can eat at your desk or workstation. I doubt that anyone working behind a counter can pull out a brown bag and put it next to the cash register.

Diabetics who don't eat for 8 hours during the day have a nasty habit of falling over.

At some point in my career I have worked at companies with a 'no eating at your desk policy'. For the most part this was largely ignored by middle managers who would rather have people give free overtime by taking their lunch hours at their desks instead of taking the lunch break that was built into the work day. They correctly assumed that the extra work for the janitor making $7 an hour was more than offset by the free work they were getting from the employee making $75-150 per hour.
