If you want power, pump up a WRX and add dual nos tanks. If you want style, get a Audi TT. The styling is nice, but nothing even close to groundbreaking, powerful, but nothing eyepopping. Lotus Elise woud be preferable. |

A 163 horsepower BMW-built Mini with a 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds? This thing is a motorcycle that forgot it was only supposed to have 2 wheels. Color me impressed.

Best Dream Car I ever owned

The world had to take a fresh look at what constituted a supercar in 1980 when Audi launched the first Quattro. The fat-arched coupe had a 200 bhp turbo five cylinder engine, but more importantly, drive went to all four wheels. As an all weather road car it was pretty much uncatchable at the time, and competition versions quickly cleaned up in the World Rally Championship. After consistent winning seasons, they had to ban the damn thing to give the other manufacturers a chance. :) Mine was a 1984 with black leather on charcoal metallic. It was the most fun car I ever drove, in any weather conditions. I'd like to relive those experiences in an Audi TT. |
I heard when the TT first was introduced in the Motherland, they quickly had to recall it for maufacturing problems. Something like the braking system wasn't up to par with the speed it delivered. I guess the go-power isn't worth anything if you don't have any stop-power.

A TT Roadster is one of the cars I *will* own before I die :) Those things are just cool as hell. Little bit expensive for me at the moment though - maybe in a couple of years. I dunno. But I'd definitely like to have a nice silver or black one. :)

I was in Germany just over a year ago visiting some friends. We headed up from Braunschweig (where I was staying) to Kiel (up north, on the Baltic). Most of our road-time was on the Autobahn, and we were in my friends' parents' Mercedes wagon. This thing was quite nice, had the onboard GPS and voice-navigation (though it <i>was</i> in German), traction control for winter/summer modes, and many other features that I was more than impressed with; but I can't seem to remember the model.
On the Autobahn, as with most German roads, it's illegal to pass on the right. We were in the middle lane going ~160kpm (100mph), and I saw about a dozen TT's passing us going at least 150mph. Then there were the 911's passing them - <i>that</i> was a sight. The whole car ride seemed very comfortable, and we were actually keeping up with most of the traffic. |
