One for the Dads - An interesting documentary

I've just been watching the first episode of a really interesting documentry series which BBC4 are repeatiing from last year.

It's called A Century of Fatherhood and traces the experience of fatherhood in Britain across a century.

I think it's delightful. Though it's set in Britain, I suspect a lot of it would be applicable to the American experience of the time.

The first episode looks a the Victorian father and into the 20th century. What's lovely is the way it lifts away this perception most of us have of fathers of that time being cold authoritarians.

Here's ep1 part 1: The Good Father

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Next one I believe covers Fathers at War.
