Stain Removal

This isn't strictly "Parenting," but it's a skill needed by most curtain-monkey wranglers.

I manage to stain enough stuff without having kids.

Tonight I learned something very important.

If you put the brush back into the bottle of Liquid Paper with a big flourish, you darn well better not be wearing a navy long-sleeve sweatshirt that you like a lot.

I will, however, be able to continue to wear the shirt because of a most miraculous product ... Goo Gone.

Up until now I only thought you could use it to remove adhesive from glassware.

The manufacturer is called "American Magic."

It truly is.

Eucalyptus oil (a natural solvent) is pretty good against chewing gum on shoes and clothing. I've never tried it on hair, only because I've never needed to and not dared the experiment.

I leaned up against a (somewhat) freshly-painted doorframe, in a black sweatshirt...

But Goo Gone does nothing for stains that aren't substance-y, right?

Just today my kid managed to get various highlighter marker colors all over a shirt, and I haven't bothered to find out how effectively I can clean them off yet.

Tie dye them.

Voila! Lemonade.

Or carbon tetrachloride. For the bravest only.

For organic stains white vinegar works very well, a cup in your wash does wonders.
