Construction Time Again/Anticipation
Things have been a bit crazy over the past few weeks...
My mother and brother will be here Wednesday. It's their first trip to Philadelphia, and their first trip out this way in 2 years. Although, they'll only be here a couple of days. Thursday, the 4 of us (Mom, Tim, Rho, and I) are driving up to Boston for my cousin's wedding. Of course, I am excited. I haven't seen Mom and Tim in over a year, and I haven't seen my aunt and cousins in Boston in over 2 years. The last time we were all in Boston, we had a blast. My stepfather won't be making the trip, as he would have had to use his seniority to bump someone else off their vacation. I told him not to...that's not cool, and I'm sure I'll see him sometime next year. I am a bit bummed though. Since Mom is coming, the apartment has to look good. My mother is a neat freak, and if the place doesn't look halfway decent, she will shit a gold brick. So, I've been trying to clean the place up here and there all week. On Wednesday, I finally bought a desk, and put it together last night. (Prior to last night, the computer was set up on our dining room table, which is actually one of those folding card tables.) Tomorrow, I'll give the kitchen and bathroom a good cleaning. We generally keep both those in good shape anyway, but this is my mom we're talking about here. Then I'll finish up the living room and "dining room" (which is part of the living room). I don't give a fuck about the bedroom. With all of Rho's dialysis supplies in there, it's hard to keep it looking nice anyway. Which brings up the dialysis issue. This will be the first time we've traveled with the portable machine. The really cool thing is that we could have had Baxter send x days worth of supplies to our hotel if we wanted to, free of charge. Since we're renting a minivan, we'll just take 3 days worth of supplies with us...it's only 3 boxes. This is just something that I really need right now I think...a ray of sun peeking through the clouds. Things have been so lousy for us this year, so this is an opportunity for Rho and I to forget about all the stupid shit going on...at least for 5 days. ![]() |

Dude. I would let her shit a gold brick. Then sell the brick for big money, so Rho and you don't have to worry about her getting a job soon. Problem solved!

If only it were that simple.
![]() As some people have 401Ks, stocks, and bonds, I have one investment that I started 19 years ago--sports collectibles: baseball cards in particular, but a few old school magazines as well (particularly the #1 issues of Beckett's Basketball Card and Hockey Card Monthlies). I also have an extensive Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card collection from 1989 and 1990...though he's tailed off since going to Cincinnati, he's still one of the best players out there, and his stuff commands $$$. His Upper Deck card from 1989 is worth $100. I bought it for $10. Perhaps it is time for me to start selling the stuff off. |
