Multipost Etiquette

Now I have engaged in responding to multiple posts in a thread with stacked replies, but I am curious as to what point do multiple consecutive posts in a single thread become excessive.

I thought TW had the record, but in this thread Merc posted 7 in a row!

more than one is too many for me. I hate those excessive quoting comebacks and consider them rude and combative. Once people start doing that stuff I'll generally abandon a thread.

I have done two in a row, when responding to two posts in a thread with no common tie.

I think it's totally dependant on the content/context and anyone wishing to impose rules on stuff yet to come is silly -and that's the polite version. Preview your post. If it makes sense and doesn't seem rude/dosmissive when you don't want to be, go for it.

For multi-quote, click the multiquote button on each post you wish to relpy to (in the order you want to reply), then click the regular quote button on the final post.

Hidden lettering is even more rude.

There ARE exceptions. :p

Perhaps chain posting is a disease and not a character flaw. I'm sure those who do it could find expert professional witnesses to testify to that.

I agree with Bruce. Hidden lettering is the pits. Why trouble readers with highlighting? When I see or suspect that I NEVER highlight. I just ignore the post. IMO it's about as rude as kiddies whispering secrets.
As for multi quotes... I really don't mind that as long as one doesn't quote several posts and only reply under each post with a 1-2 word reply. If you only have one or two words to say in response, is that post actually worth quoting? Sheesh.

Oh .... Sorry about that then, Capn. I use hidden lettering to enhance the delivery of a joke. Since it is easily detectable I think of it more like the loudly "whispered" aside by an actor to the audience.

Carry on. I'm not the internet police. I'm just one user. No offense intended.
