Why are you cool?
Inspired by the two-lies-and-a-truth thread; I got tired of keeping track of what was a lie. So what (true) event, skill, talent, or acquaintance makes you really cool?
For me, I get paid to make videogames. |

I had my picture on the front page, above the fold, of my home town newspaper when I was a kid.

Why am I cool?
I play with computers all day. I do it to help doctors and other people who work at a hospital to treat patients.
On the weekends, I take my kids out all day long, going to the science museum, or to Lego Land (we have had season passes to both). In the car, I play classical music, and later on I hear them humming the parts. I do everything my own way, regardless of how long it takes or how much I'm overthinking it. I'm honest whether you want me to be or not. I listen to people and try to empathize with them as deeply as I can. I treat everyone with the same respect, regardless of whether they are the housekeeper or the CEO. (This works better for me in real life than on the internet.) Quote:
And, I have a vintage 1970s Ludwig clear acrylic bass drum with blue rope lights mounted inside the shell--! I've raised both dogs and cats from birth, including bottle feeding, making them go potty, and everything in between.

Designing and building my post and beam house was supposed to take care of that but, alas, I'm almost as big a dork as LJ.

You prejudiced bastard, what did those poor basses ever do to you? You need to be more accepting of alternate voice ranges.
Me? Cool? Hmmm. I would say "I'm not" but lumberjim already took that one! I'm not a people person. But I've been supporting IT in higher education for 12 years now (longer if you count work I did as a student), and if there's one thing I've learned how to do, it's to "talk down" somebody who's getting hysterical because of a computer issue. Maybe that's cool. |

My neighbor, a doctor, was launching his hot air balloon from his back yard again. I was holding the "crown line" to keep it from blowing around in the light breeze. I got a couple rides in that balloon for helping out on his ground crew.
The photojournalist (heh heh), who had been tipped off in advance, composed a picture with me in the forground, and the balloon in the background. But the balloon dominated the picture. |

Mostly sports games and third- or first-person shooters, on Xbox and PS2. We used to make games for the Gamecube, but not anymore. A shame, since the GC had SUCH a better audio compression algorithm...
