I too have heard M61 Vulcan cannons fired. Scariest sound I know -- I've never heard a recording that does that vicious noise justice. It's approximately BRRRRIIIIPPPP and about four times as loud as you expect. It's like the sound of a chainsaw with no muffler being goosed abruptly to high rpm -- you can hear the frequency pick up, combined with the sound of an air hammer and that of heavy canvas tearing just fast enough to give you a subliminal impression of each thread popping.
