They have a big snow melting operation going on at the elementary school two blocks away. It's loud. They run it all night. It woke me up at 3AM last night. Front end loader banging around. Or maybe it's the tailgates of the dump trucks slamming shut.

Snowing here but not sticking to the roads.

When I lived in NY they used to dump all the extra snow in the lake. But most people had a clue how to plow in the first place so the parking lots and roads weren't choked off after the first, or second, 20 inches on the ground.

I don't know why they don't dump it into the river here. That's where the melt water is winding up.

When Philly had that 31 inch storm back in '96, I remember them dumping snow in the Schuylkill River off the multitude of bridges coming out of center city. It seemed like a good idea, until they dammed up the river and started flooding upstream.

I remember something about changing the PH or whatever of the water too - Something about all the salt and whatnot that they had put on the roads.

We got snow down here for the first time since 1988. Big wet flakes for about an hour or so. It stuck to the cars, ground and bushes, but it was gone by the morning. Pretty wild. So many people ran out of work to look at it and many had never seen snow in real time, ever. Amusing.

Hey! It's snowing up here on the 43rd parallel.

Who could have imagined it?

Well down here at 32.08257455954592 we don't get much of that.

I remember my brother telling me a story of a guy on one of his boats (he was an Naval Officer at the time) who saw it snowing when they were out to sea and he ran and hid in his cabin. He was scared because he did not know what was happening. He thought it was fallout.

Tell me about it. This afternoon the kids and I took a walk around the block in t-shirts. Every once in awhile I think I might be jealous of this fun thing you guys have called snow... but, nah, nevermind.
