I wish the moderators would get off their asses and approve the newest member ( my ghost) there is a very touching and poignant post up there somewhere.....

Have I mentioned that this system of 1st post moderation puts a serious kink in the comedic timing of situationally created sockpuppets? I have? Oh. OK.

In the spirit of the season, I just ripped off your PC Greeting Sarge!

(very well written... thanks!)

Sarge, in giving you credit, cough up a better name for attaching when quoting you please.

Something that displays the deep thinker side of you.

Dunno, but the last time i created one, i saw UT was online so i loggesd out and back in as me and I begged and pleaded with him to give her priority treatment. and he did (bless him) but then I couldn't get the password to work and the moment was lost....

*sigh*

it's way too late for what I posted at 11 am to be funny at this point. fucking spammers have ruined it for the rest of us. this is worse than the Patriot act.

Heh, I was going to create "Labrat's ghost" to post in the scorched goove thread in respose to my oh so caring and sensitive husband...but didn't want to bother with waiting. In this case, it was effective in a brady bill sort of way.

For the record, I responded in a humourous way (well, barely) because it was intended as a funny thread. But I'd like to use this thread to give thanks to my parents (yes, I have thanked them personally) for their support of the British military.

A while back, when I was still earning money, Bruce posted a video or linked a blog re how military overseas really appreciated the things they received in care packages. They were such silly things - toothbrushes, indigestion tablets, lipbalm, travel sweets, tissues, disposable razors. Crikey me. Such mingy things!

So every time I went to Sainsbury's I picked up a few things. If it was Buy One Get One Free on toothbrushes I'd pick up two. If it was 3 For the Price of 2 on shower gel I'd get three. Not much added to the weekly shop, but hopefully a lot to the receivers.

When I came back here I had a bit of a stockpile. I'd been sending them from work you see - the nearest agaent was in Woolwich (not far). Despite the fact that work knew what I was doing and knew why the things were there, they chose to send them to the house in Canning Town with my personal belongings, so I had to bring them back to Aylesbury in my Dad's car.

Anyway - my parents were wonderful and took them to the local TA (Territorial Army) base in order that they could reach the intended recipients. It's only across town, but as some people have identified, I don't always give charity where it's most needed. My parents could easily have taken the noodles, lip balm, men's shower gel, deodorant etc etc. That they didn't, shows me who I learned from, however misguided.
