If we're going to be that way, I might have to change my answer to "printing press".

A thermos, because it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.

How do it know?

Pop-top beverage cans are cool. Actually, it's been awhile since we had a really innovative, affordable-for-the-masses technological advance like that. I'm probably missing several hundred, but...

I miss soda cans that you had to open with a can opener, carefully poking it twice to let the beverage flow freely ... I also miss pull tabs. Damn shame people were too stupid not to choke on them.

The whole choking fad was the fault of the eco crowd, anyway. They suggested that the pulled tab be inserted into the can so as to not end up tossed carelessly on the ground.

What they failed to appreciate was the artistic value inherent in the thing, as witnessed by Jimmy Buffet's eventual line in "Margaritaville":

'Blew out my flipflop
Stepped on a poptop
Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home.
But there's booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concotion that helps me hang on..."

Tivo ROCKS !!!!
And on a COLD and snowy night such as this is ( for folks in my area ) ventless gas fire logs !!! Yes we have one of those fake fire places , but you know what , i don't have to cut , split , haul , or buy wood ( Yea Yea i know the smell and the sound of burning logs is HARD to beat ) . or deal with the ashes , i just call the gas man when the tank starts getting low .
Plus on cold mornings i can get dressed in front of the fire , and when i am done I just turn them off .

Actually, Warch nailed that down on page 1. After fire, I'll take the bicycle.
