yeah, it's his abusive character I really like! He's so scathingly sarcastic, caustive, mean-spirited, AND!~hooked on pills! He's PERFECT for me!!!

Would someone who wasn't distracted by a suicidal caller in the last 5 minutes of the L&O:SVU premiere episode please PM me and tell me what happened? I saw everything up to (wow, this is hard to describe without a spoiler) the last teensy weensy little bit, like actually within 30 seconds of the "Directed by Dick Wolf" card being flashed.

How's about somebody who saw it PM me and I'll tell you what I need to know about the ending ...

I got distracted but this is the gist of it, highlight as needed, I don't know character names:

Rapist tells cop they are going to rape girl, but cop must go first
Cop says he won't do it in front of another guy
Rapist tells cop he respects that and says he'll go around the wall
Cop instructs girl to scream and then to run on cue
Girl screams, runs on cue
Rapist returns
Cop confronts, lets on identity
Rapist gets better of him
Cavalry (Ice T and whatsername) can't identify where rapist is to help
Rapist handcuffs cop to van door
Rapist dramatically tells cop they are alike
Girl found by cavalry, can't identify exact location
Cop struggles free of door
Scuffle, cop gets rapist in headlock and dramatically puts him in sleeper hold
Cop found by cavalry

NCIS premier last night. I have to say, it is still my all-time favorite despite the loss of Kaitlyn Todd. I'm hooked once again. Much...MUCH better than the other CSI:Crime Scene Investigators, CSI: Miami, and CSI: New York. Although I still like the CSI on Thursday nights.

I can't get past Mark Harmon's scenery chewing.

What, exactly, is scenery chewing? I've heard it, but don't know if I've ever seen it. Examples, please.

Overacting. Too much emotion and drama, particularly where it's not warranted.

Think Shatner asking, "Why does God need a starship?"

Too pausy, too breathy, too whatever. Saying "I'm going to go get a cappucino" with just the hint of a tear squeezing out one eye, and with too soulful a look towards the camera.

Acting that you can tell is acting.

Ahh----now I get it. *trying to think of recent example* like anything Calista Flockhart does? Or, every episode of The O.C? I watch a lot of documentaries, real Crime (bless CourtTV!) and A&E. Of course, Bill Curtis has been known to be a bit over the top, for a narrator, that is.

Expressive narration does not typically qualify, although can be annoying in it's own right. As far as Bill Curtis goes, you may have noticed that all of his expressiveness is in his voice ... facially he has a broad range of one emotion. Not quite the same.

Well, Harman can't be worst than David Caruso's mugging for the camera. Every eposode, the script must read this:

Caine: Enter scene. Tight head shot. Caine drops head, turns sidways to camera, pulls glasses half-way down not and peeks out the top. Makes some snide, cheeky comment.

And that, dear friends, is why I don't watch CSI:Miami.
