lookout---my prayers are with you and your family. God bless you.

Has the tyke had a (sorry to say it) spinal tap? Sounds like every other fluid has been assessed...strength, my friend. And, health.

The story of my eldest son's woes is too long to tell (and it depresses me to the point of becoming suicidal), but...when he was in the worst throes of his brain injury, he ran an inexplicable temperature for weeks. They put him on a cooling system, it was so high.

They searched for every infectious cause they could think of, and to no avail. In the end, it was a manifestation of the brain injury. His hypothalmus was out of whack, and was unable to regulate his body temp.

I'm sure there's no reason to think that your child has any sort of injury, Lookout, but I wonder if there couldn't be some endocrinal cause to all of this? Has an endocrinologist been consulted?

Hang in there, man. I am *so* with you. PM me if you want to defrag with someone who spent nearly a year in four different hospitals with his sick child.

Lookout, I'm so sorry. It's very frustrating when you just don't have the power to make it better for him. For what it's worth, I agree with Elspode. I don't have a lot of faith in the average pediatrician (though yours sounds pretty cool letting you come over to his house.) I'd just start taking him to every specialist I could think of, you never know what you'll find.

I'm new here. I bookmarked it because I noticed most of you can spell. That's somewhat unusual nowadays.

Lookout, how awful. Nothing worse than sick a littleun and no manifest reason for it. You have my sympathy and thoughts.

On occasion we even manage to get to the level of thoughtful discussion.

If the spelling thing is amazing to you, you might want to take The Cellar in smaller doses until you're acclimated ... don't want you fainting when you see actual philosophy being discussed.

You've already got the conjoined cruets w/stainless steel rack? You lucky dog, you.

I came here because the people were smarter than in AoL Chat. They still are.

Some are just as wrongheaded, but they still are.

Lookout - I echo everyone else's hopes, thought and prayers... and I agree with Bri's suggestion on the spinal tap - not pleasant, but you gotta get an answer. Also maybe another opinion from another Dr...? Good luck!

I'm not a doctor, but have you considered allergies? Has something changed in diet, laundry detergent, new carpet, etc?

It's a long shot, but if no infection can be found, it's a possibility.
