Yah know how some critters are so ugly they're cute, like this aussie pooch layin' here? Thats where I am on the Pacer. Now if my parents were serial owners of them instead of this abortion, I'd sing a different tune. Take the hammer to foreign cars as well...

had a hell of a time finding a decent pic of a chevy monza (yes i know that pic is a model). i had one of these my freshman year of college. had a love/hate relationship with it, and the monza or an international scout would be my dream restoration. while the monza is just ugly ugly, the scout is cool ugly.

Oh, and what happened to that '78 Monza? It caught fire at a 7-Eleven parking lot...damned carburetor.

I like the new Beetle...and if you all don't, you can go to hell. In fact, maybe I'll just head south to Mexico and buy a Sedan (aka the "old" beetle) for $7400US.

Hmmm...some cars for the Ugly Hall of Fame:

--Buick Rendezvous (current)
--Toyota Echo (current)
--Chevrolet Malibu/Oldsmobile Cutlass (current)
--Subaru SVX (early 90s)
--VW Jetta (prior to the current model, so...pre-2001?)
--Chevrolet Lumina APV/Pontiac Trans Sport (late 80s-mid 90s)
--Those first-generation Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Toyota minivans that looked like ripoffs of the old VW Bus (mid 80s)

The new beatle is terribly designed. I do mean terribly. At least they did a good job with the new mini. I want one. Since i'm a poor student i'm getting an old one. Ah well.

We can take this in dangerous directions. I was gonna say that the new Caddy CTS that Griff posted is not uglier than the AMC Pacer, but that I'd bet the people who choose to drive that particular Caddy are assholes. It just has an asshole-y feel about it. The Pacer has a feel like it's gonna be driven by the man from Donkey Kong.

And then I thought about giving examples of other asshole-y cars on the road. You know what I mean? But then I thought, what if one of us drives one of 'em?

It's all pure prejudice. But hey, it's fun.

KAZ

The centipede to VW's bug.

A multi-purpose electric vehicle developped by Japan Science and Technology Corp. and Keio University speeds along a street during a demonstration in downtown Tokyo on Saturday September 28, 2002. Developped at a cost of 300 million yen (2.4 million dollars), the eight-wheel-drive vehicle, called KAZ, is capable of reaching a top speed of 311 kmh (192 mph), its developper Prof. Hiroshi Shimizu of Keio University says. The 6.7-meter (14.7 feet)-long KAZ uses 84 lithium-ion batteries, which once charged enables the car to run for about 300 kilometers (186 miles). (AP Photo/Naokazu Oinuma)
Is it ugly?

For my taste, the two ugliest cars in production are:
Renault Kangoo Express and Toyota Yaris Verso

Also the names of those cars are quite stupid, I think.

But then again, I like the New Beetle and the Chrysler mentioned here earlier...

Good thing you self-censored.

Nic, I predict that by the year 2000 we will all be driving flying cars not unlike the 54 FX. The design is necessary to get high altitude performance, I'm willing to trade fashion for function.

Beauty is in the mind, I guess

Looking at the first dozen posts (and assuming they're not trolling) lends the reader a particular view, not of the cars, but of the poster's tastes. The Cadillac, eh. It makes a statement.

But not liking the Cruiser, Prowler or VW?

Youz folks are NOT car people. Sheesh.

(And I'll be buying an Avalanche soon enough to go with our Cruiser and two Vettes.)

Citations? yeah, pedestrian uninteresting cars.

Gremlins and Vegas? Hey, the clothes came back in style...I'm SURE 'retro' styling will hearken back to the seventies someday. :P

That new hardtop convertible Lexus -- I just can't figure it out. On the Surface, it's just wrong. Wrong lines doing wrong things at the wrong places...but I can't stop LOOKING at it. It's like a trainwreck...but guilded in Crome (and the finest CorINthian Leather.)
