It may be that traditional opera training limits the curriculum for boys to women's parts until they are older. He might also consider some martial arts training to balance his vocal training, though.

Blind guitarist should hook up with Bill Clements, the one-handed bass player. (Warning: extreme talent)

His (only) left hand.

He could probably fit a pick to the prostethis, but that wouldn't be as cool.

But what about when he has a fingering that requires his pinky to go down? Is his pinky always plucking and it just looks like it's pressing down on the strings?

When you push down or "fret" the string fast and hard enough, it will ring the string a little without having to pluck it. It's known as "hammering on". This guy has a bandanna around the top of the neck so the strings don't vibrate unless he's doing that. So he can turn up and get the most out of the hammer on.

My fingers are tired just from watching that. Leet shredding skills. If he could figure out a way to get a little more attack on the notes, he'd be better than 90% of all bassists, and with only half the arms. He's still better than most. Kinda makes me feel like a dolt for not practicing.

I just saw the blind guitarist

I have a hard time with some of that stuff playing with my eyes open and my hand where it's "supposed" to be. I *still* suck at sweep picking. Damn. Back to the woodshed.

BTW, why do blind guitarists play with their hands upside down?

I was wondering that for awhile, then I was wondering why everybody else doesn't?

I can't see either video from work, but I am aware of an amazing blind guitarist, Jeff Healy (he's rather well known in fact, not the least of reasons being his appearance in "Roadhouse", the Patrick Swazey barfight movie). He plays with the axe flat on his lap, plucking with one hand and fretting with the other. It is a much more traditionally percussive sort of technique, akin to hammering-on ala Stanley Jordan, but with plucking thrown in as well.

Talent pisses me off. People who have it piss me off even more.
