ETA: video or it didn't happen; local television "breaking news" acceptable, bonus points for traffic helicopter footage.

Triple bonus points for hitting the helicopter.

Points awarded after you get out of prison, of course.

a bucket of 4" steel bearings sounds like awesome fun.

but that's like, what... six bearings? the diameter of a softball is 4.5". How many of them would fit in a bucket? If there's a line, I want to get in it. I'll pay the postage too.

The race is ongoing.

The USS Nimitz's ("boat 68") top speed is listed at 31.5 knots, while the USS Harry S Truman's ("boat 75") is listed at '30+' knots. You could waterski behind these fukkers.

However, the Nimitz has been running this race since 1972. The HST has only been in the race since 1996.

I'd say the Nimitz has a solid lead.

Interesting to note: Both carriers, separated by ~24 yrs, use the exact same propulsion systems. Two Westinghouse A4W reactors, four steam turbines, and four shafts, giving 260,000 shp.

Oh god, now you've upped the ante. I'll throw in some home brew and maple syrup.

nonononon....

you first. I'll hold your (homebrewed) beer and watch from over here. Speaking of which, I still have your bottle of dandelion wine here. I should apply some of that promised postage to that cause.

did you make the maple syrup? :slurp:

You'll want to calculate today's value of $189.50. I'm guessing that advertisement is mid-sixties. People wonder why Americans don't save money... I know a guy with 45 guitars, that is probably as smart an investment as anything.

$189.50 in 1965 had the same buying power as $1,370.67 in 2012.

Annual inflation over this period was 4.30%.

That makes today's ARs a good value.

You can get a really nice, really accurate AR for under a grand. And have enough cash left for ammo.

This could be a cool weapon...if only it didn't cost so much to bring it to a halt.

Whoops.

That last stop just sets the azimuth for shelling the enemy on the back side of the distant hill.
