Also, I've been reading DDD, and there are references to WOEBEGONE, and SNOW.

There is something about the Hotel being as woebegone as a dog in the rain or something like that. It's the only time that word was used in the book.

There is also quite an obsession with snow, shoveling snow, snowstorms...

Edit: And I was just looking around on the rest of the site, the background sound on HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? is a forest ambience slowed waaaaay down. Record it and speed it up about 700% in Sound recorder and you'll hear it.

Edit: And the reference to Photomosaics on that page with the windmills and the circles could refer to how each image loads in slices. I only know that they load that way because of my horrid 56k dialup. Finally, it becomes helpful... Anyway, I'm going to try speeding up other ambience sounds on the site, see what I get.

Another Edit: Man, I'm becoming like wavinator! See:
Wavinator Posts

Anyhoo, what's the signifigance of 'Another corpse'? I haven't finished DDD yet...

Still another Edit: Also I remember someone saying that the text under the avatars on the official forums were anagrams... Anyone remember when Mr. TINP posted here? Remember his sig? "I taste Metal"... could it be an anagram? I don't know, I'm REALLY bad with them.

It's so cool that you are lloking and finding all this stuff. Having new people excited in the puzzle is refreshing, simply because we know we aren't in so deep and that others can come in with new ideas.

However, there is some stuff you mention and wonder about that we have already figured out. It gets repetative and a bit annoying when you ask questions that have already been answered. Try going back through this thread and reading all the posts (which is a hefty task, but we've all done it). Maybe you'll gain a greater understanding than what you have now.

Again, though, this is awesome that you are doing all this. I mean, the more people we have working on the problems, the more likely we are to figure things out.

Oven Page is back up.

I have no mouth.", "And I.", "must scream."

Really old, I was reading the posts and I immediately recognized this as an old-school Resident Evil Type game that I am quite fond of. See page 12.

This is strange:
http://www.thisisnotporn.com/forums/ redirects to
http://www.ketadreams.com/forum/ which is currently down (priestx, are you working on getting the forum back up?)

But,
www.thisisnotporn.com/forums (without the slash) redirects to
http://www.krisboruff.com/forums/ which gives a 404 message.
http://www.krisboruff.com/ exists, but it is an empty page.

krisboruff.com has always existed. I can't remember if it was just a re-direct to thisisnotporn.com or not.

And I noticed the same things you did, Deius. That's why I had trouble getting the URL of the new forums, because I was typing it without the slash.

That song... Was it always the oven page's sound?

When I hear it, I hear that baby noise, but there is also the constant sound of flowing water, and what sounds to me like a chainsaw. More a circular saw, actually. And it'll cut out with a radio static noise and come back in a few seconds later. In each of these 'radio pauses', the 'background sound' can be clearly heard, either the "saw", or the "baby" (which sounds more like a fly to me).

This guy is way too obsessed with water. Its a little disturbing.

Please, please, please, please read the rest of this thread. This topic is mentioned only two pages back complete with lyrics, title, artist and a site where you can download the song.

PizzaMonkey: I have echoes of discordant_harmony and Duey both: it's great to see new folk so excited about this stuff... but you -REALLY- need to read back through the thread to see what everyone's already discussed.

Case in point:

June 6, 2005; 11:38:00AM. It's been there since the beginning (two years ago). Any current relevance? -That-, we don't know.

sorry

I read the whole thread now, but the bubbling water sound was not mentioned,nor was the saw noise. Also, I just forgot about the date thingy. This 60-something page thread is a lot to digest.

Edit: I also just got some of my friends to check it out: It's only a matter of time now, if we can't solve it with brains, we'll solve it by sheer numbers. With everyone contributing different ideas (don't worry about any more annoying repetitive posts, I didn't tell them about the thread) we might be able to solve this thing. Current count of recruits: 12

About the so-called Vigenere code, Vigenere doesn't use numbers, which the codes in TINP have. Vigenere is a set of alphabets, set up by a key word. For example, if the keyword is Knock, a table fo vigenere code would look like this.

-->(nocode) ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
-->(code 1) KLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJ
-->(code 2) NOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLM
-->(Code 3) OPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMN
-->(Code 4) CDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZAB
-->(Code 5) KLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJ

You'd then code the phrase like this:
First letter: use the letter corresponding to T in the first alphabet
Second letter: use the letter corresponding to H in the second alphabet...
etc. etc...

Maybe the numbers signify a change to a different alphabet, but then what is the keyword? we need to know that, or else, we can't arrange the alphabets correctly. Or each "alphabet" could actually be alphanumeric.

It is indeed Most of us have been reading since way back, rather than being saddled with nearly 70 pages worth of info (or mis-info as the case may be) all at once.

I believe you're right about the 'saw' noise, though I could swear someone in the last couple pages mentioned the water. (edited before posting: nope. Hm.)

At one point there were about 40 dedicated regulars (who actually posted and shared, at any rate); I think it's died off to just under 15 die-hards. Good on ya for bringing in a crop of fresh blood.

Edited after posting: Which TINP codes are you referring to? The earlier ones have been deciphered; the possibly Vigenere ones are only on Vig.htm and Near.htm. Also, the saw noise is apparently what makes up the spectrograph of Cherry Knowle (have been listening while typing).

Second (third?) edit: I didn't hear any 'water'-type noises. Shall have to pay more attention next listen. {eta: nevermind, I hear it now. Hm, again.}

the fact that the long code of capital letters appears directly above a huge picture of vigenere suggests that we need to use the vigenere method to decode it. we have tried MANY different words for the key and have still been unsuccessful. instead of rearranging the alphabets like above, have you looked for programs that decode the string for you after imputting a key?
