Pick my weekend movie

I think it would be really cool to see Jurassic Park in 3D. I've not seen any of the new 3D movies so I wonder if it's worth it. Do you think the 3D really adds to the suspense of a movie like that?

Also, the Evil Dead remake is out. I've read it doesn't have some of the absurd humor of the original. It also relies a lot on gore. But...if it's scary Imma love it. And it stars that darling Jane Levy from Suburgatory.

Have you seen Jurassic Park already? If so, do you want to see it again?

I think 3D is a gimmick, and can be moderately entertaining, but isn't anything to get excited about. In fact, when a movie is offered as regular or 3D, I'll choose the regular version because I find 3D to be a little distracting. Plus it's usually a couple bucks more expensive.

I'd add that if you have never seen a modern 3D movie, you should go ahead and see one, just so you know what they are like.

I have seen it. I'm not one for a big action flick but I found JP to be interesting, and scary at times. If the 3D isn't going to enhance what makes it scary...the dinos popping in and yelling and gnashing teeth and stuff...then it wouldn't be worth it, would it?

I honestly don't know. Seems to me that a good 3D movie would be designed from the ground up. There might be some scenes in JP that lend themselves to good 3D, but I don't think it was originally filmed with 3D in mind, so I'm not sure it would be all that impressive.

Write-in: Have you seen Troll Hunter yet?

It's in a foreign language, so you can feel all highbrow, but it's a fun horror/adventure/comedy movie.

I like foreign films, but they don't really market them in my immediate area (podunkville, that is.) It looks awful 'actiony.'

3D is a gimmick, I've only see a couple but i haven't seen it add anything to a film that good cinematography can't do.

Troll Hunter is great, if you don't mind watching foreign movies with subtitles, you may well really like it. It streams on Netflix, not sure how else you can see it.

We have Skyfall on DVD

I was really hoping that the new Oz movie would go 2D to 3D at the same time that they went to widescreen and color, but they were 3D the whole time.

But they did take advantage of the opportunity of having the black boxes on the sides of the screen to have some of the 3D effects really come out of the picture.

I don't mind subtitles, but I really don't seek out actiony movies. Skyfall, isn't that the new "James Bond" one? Yeah, no. My Inner Bond Girl only likes the Roger Moore era.

Don't do netflix (I need a new computer, new TV...even a GOOD actiony flick won't seem like much on my tiny old-school TV.)

Troll Hunter has a handful of action scenes, but it's mostly suspenseful with a lot of running around in the dark woods being scared of the boogie man. Beest is right though, you'll only find it on Netflix.

I'm so glad we had this time together
Just to have a laugh or sing a song
Seems we just get started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say 'so long.'

Good night everybody!
