6/24/2004: 20-foot-long hair
Thanks to doc for sending this along. This Vietnamese gent's name is Tran Van Hay, and he's got the longest hair on record. It was last cut 31 years ago... and last washed 6 years ago. Long hair hippie freak. |

I want to show this to wannabe hippies with quasi dreads 3 inches long and make them cry. This urge is strong.

Many might do such a thing as part of some religious attainment.
I think this guy is just a Crystal Gayle fan.

I've only had one haircut in the past 15 years or so (and that one was at least 8 years ago), and mine's only down to my mid-back. He must have some hefty follicles.
Or maybe it sticks together better if you never wash it...

Everybody has a length at which their hair just stops growing. You've probably reached yours, HM. I knew a guy once who couldn't grow long hair past around the middle of his neck. It frustrated the hell out of him since he was trying to be a hard rocker at the time. Cut it, and it would start growing again, but somehow it always knew to stop at that length.

Or it would shed after the same period of time that was necessary to grow that length.

Yeah. It doesn't stop growing, it falls out and the follicle starts over every so often.

Heh...and I thought my hair could eat combs; that thing could probably devour the hairdresser too. Hmm...with a beard that color, you'd think his hair would at least start showing grey too. In hair THAT long, it'd be keen to see a long, smooth brown to grey gradient effect going.
