Best was a photo album created by my Ma, filled with old pics of the family. Suddenly that "scapbooking" trend doesnt seem so stupid after all!

There was also the mini marshmallow blow gun made of pvc.

This sounds similar to my goodies. Knives and some cookbooks. I've been reassured that the other member of the household isn't attempting to take advantage of this by any means, but I'm starting to become somewhat suspicious.

...especially when I'm not even the first to open the book. "Oh! Oh! You should try making THAT one. ...or, or THAT one!..."

Lots of goodies:

- new headlights for my Jeep (old ones were scratched and fogged over)
- tactical flashlight for my Kimber 45
- several computer games
- weather station (to better document those hurricanes - "my wind gauge blew away at 129 mph!")
- several football polos for some of my favorite teams (Denver, New England, Washington and Dallas)
- lots of misc stuff - bar glasses, books, booze, etc.

I got just what I needed the most. A truck! My ex-husband sold me his pick-up really cheap since he knew I really needed another vehicle. I've been using my son's car, which sucks, since Shane's 19 and wants to always be going somewhere. He's a great ex!

I have the little Canon Powershot SD500 ... good camera even though I did have to send it in for repairs already once (the lense mechanism froze in the extended position - they fixed it fast and at no charge). But that said, the camera is great in that it is a 7 megapixal camera that I can just tuck in a pocket for anywhere I go.

I have the Nikon Coolpix P1 and love the thing. I enjoy the slimmer Canons a bit more for the ability to carry them around, but the Coolpix has been just fine in a beltpouch. Battery life is a bit questionable (very much so if you transfer the images with the wireless option), but it comes with an external charger so there isn't any reason you couldn't get a second one have at the ready.

The lens mechanisms freeze up on all of these cameras at some point, especially if you take them to the beach. My old Sony Cybershot died that way some time ago and, oddly, seemed to be affected by the cold more than anything. The focus motor wouldn't work below 45F.

I've got the Canon PowerShot S70, and the underwater housing to go with it. I love it! It's amazing how much of a difference there is between my old camera that was 5 megapix to this one that has 7.1.
So far no problems with it, and it's been underwater, to the beach, in the woods and in the hands of my 6 year old. (knock on wood of course)

It was the year of the kitchen for me. Brother-in-law had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and at Christmas, we were talking about it. One of the main points was the effect on diet and on the buildup in the arteries. Main contributor: fat. What did I get? A fryer. No, two fryers. One Presto CoolDaddy for the kitchen, and a turkey fryer for the backyard. Well, at least the turkey fryer can double as a crab boiler. Fave kitchen gift was 12 cup Columbia Thermo Press Coffee Maker. This is a beauty, a functional work of art. I **love** it.

Got a wallet, actually two wallets, a quilted flannel shirt, a desk calendar with a Bushism-a-day, the movies Deliverance and The Graduate.

Does this belong in the malicious gifting thread?

Let's hope not.

I am certain the gifts were purchased before the heart attack, and one was from MrsV (turkey fryer/crab boiler) and the smaller one was from my sister-in-law, not the wife of heart attack BIL.

Any malice should be assigned to me since I've long talked about wanting each one. But hey, there's no abuse like self abuse, right?
