I think it's hilarious how long threads go from people actually talking about the topic to offbeat comments that bear little resemblance to the original idea.

I was just reading through the "Why we should enforce the death penalty" thread. The last post made reference to PS2.

It's like Whisper Down the Lane, in a way.

Drifting threads are a Cellar trademark. If a thread doesn't drift, then it's crap.

Was a death row inmate playing it? Who knows, it could fit.

Drifting? Yeah, because the Colorado River runs at 5 or 6 mph for the most part, you don't have to do a lot of rowing. Of course you have to steer/guide the boat around obstacles and get on the proper "line" to enter the rapids. Once you reach Separation Canyon it's a pretty good row down the lake to the campsite. That'll make you sweat in August.

No kidding? Guess I better start following that thread.

So those whitewater rafting tours I see here and there, are they generally worth the price of admission? I'd love to give it a try, of course I don't want to spend the money on the gear myself. And renting isn;t really an option, because I would have no idea what to do with it.

Depends on what you're into, Perth. I've had friends who really enjoyed the ones on the Arkansas near the Salida area. I've done part of the Colorado just over the Utah border near Westwater on an air mattress, but then I'm crazy, as everyone knows.
PS Talk about thread drift!

If it's a popular white water stretch, sometimes you'll have a choice of outfitters with different approaches. Through the Grand Canyon there were huge rafts, little rafts, kayaks, powered, unpowered, etc. We chose oar powered wooden dories and in some of the smaller rapids, a few would get out and float through with just lifejackets.
My first post was a joke about thread drift, but I ended up hijacking the thread.
