picture of my mother

My mom turns 87 in 3 weeks. I came in after nap the other day and the sunlight was streaming in through the window so I grabbed my new camera and took some photos. She had on a pink turtleneck which really looked bad next to her yellow sheets so I made it a B&W.

We are now in the final stages of Alzheimer's, she only knows my dad some of the time and quite often thinks he is her father. She doesn't know any of us kids now. She is very quiet and usually only speaks up when I feed her; she always compliments me on the food!

I love the character lines that have developed. Thanks for looking.

what he said. The eyes don't give away the disease. She may not know who you are, but she knows she loves you.

Beautiful picture. Did you shoot it as digital? Is it natively black and white or did you decide on that during processing? Black and white is perfect for it.

I shot it on my new camera, a Canon 5D, I shot it in color but changed it to BW in the processing stages.

Well done. You should take some more while you have the chance. Very nice.

I should go take some pics of my mom.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...your parents are incredibly blessed that they have you. Not only are you doing the incredibly difficult and often painful job of caring for them in their declining years, but you clearly are finding the beauty in the experience.

I hope you write a book, bro. You can illustrate it with the wonderful pics you are taking.

Sorry to say it dude, but Alz is eventually fatal. My Paw Paw on my mom's side, and my Ma'maw on my dad's side died from it.
