"Black?"

Mr. & Mrs. Obama

Almost without exception, all reporters and pundits keep referring to Barak Obama as being "Black," and plaintively ask if America is ready to elect a "Black" for President. WTF? Obama is mulato. That's a perfectly good word. At least they could say "mixed race."

It matters because I think that's a really important part of his identity, his growing up, perhaps his own view of race.

Just a thought.

Whatever colour you call his skin, it means he's from a minority group.

I've no idea whether he'd be a good president or not, but he seems to be saying all the right things lately.

Colour Me Beatiful

Whatever colour
I love that Brit/Aussie spelling.

Actually, I would say "mixed race" as a category is huge, but you're right that most would see him as a "minority."

For me, Obama represents one of those "Don't wish too hard" candidates because now that he's hot, you wonder how long that can last.

At least he can speak English. That means a lot to me.

Focusing on race is just a red herring at best; a sickness, closer to reality.
All that needs be looked at are the issues.

Yes but what does that have to do with the average man on the street now? (The people you talk to on this board)
