Helsinki, FI

I have an opportunity to head to Finland for a few days at the end of October.

Any Dwellers from there or been there and willing to suggest "To Do"?

When I went to Helsinki about five years ago, I recall the Museum of Modern Art being particularly awesome.

If you drive, do not drink or speed.

A quick response for you re Finland. I forgot my friend had his heart broken by his Finnish girlfriend while travelling. Bear that in mind when reading his advice:

Re Finland. Just don't bother going at all would be my advice! However, if the urge takes you, I went to Mikkeli, Jyvaskyla and Helsinki. All save Helsinki are pretty unremarkable. Most finnish towns seem to be made from blasting a huge hole in the forest and building three story buildings on the blast site. Its all very green and healthy and nordic. But a bit boring too.

The best advise is find somebody who has a summer house on a lake (of which Finland has more than 50000), have a sauna, go skinny dipping in the lake,
sit butt naked on the veranda drinking beer and waving at people on boats on the lake - repeat several times then back inside to cook sausages on an open fire. What could be better!!???!
I will try to get some more sensible information from him.

SUNDAE -

would that i had the option of going there on vacation. the trip is sorta work-related. i am a travel agent and i am going there on a "fam trip" to familiraize myself with the hotels that one of my office's big accounts (an unnamed cell phone giant) uses all the time there since their home office is there.

good advice though.

some of my traveling companions are thinking about taking the train to St. Petersburg or maybe a ferry to Estonia or Oslo.

wondering if anyone had any input as to other things one should do or see in HEL(sinki).

So Ericson is your client? Nice score, that.

Sundae Girl, I think your friend's advice sounded pretty darn good. Naked beer drinking with a view followed by sausages? I'm in.
