Sunday I died and went to Heaven

then I had to go to work. but here is a photoblog of what happened. I hope you enjoy it.

my great friend and employer is a pilot also. saturday he asked if i wanted to go fly sunday before i had to be at work. hell any opportunity to fly i'll jump at and we do go fly regularly. well this trip was a surprise to me. we planned to fly to brenham texas for lunch and return. i show up at work at noon to meet up with him and go to the airport. on the way there he was mentioning that he didn't get what he wanted for xmas. a clock/thermometer with an aviation theme. he said you know what i want to go to galveston and get it. we'll eat lunch on the seawall. hell yeah i said, why not! here goes. sorry for the ass load of pics but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. i've been flying for 14 years and have never been to the place we went to.

trip down there was in a cessna 152.

Beautiful, I had a chance to fly in a B-17, Liberty Belle, and there's nothing like it.

Major fucking dittoes!! I almost creamed my jeans, and definitely have a rise in my Levi's! I've only seen a few Hueys live and in person, but that is without a doubt the shiniest Huey I've ever seen, in person or otherwise.

So. Fucking. Jealous. Right. Now.

ETA: Plthijinx, Ima check out all your Flickr shit. All ur Flickr r belong to me.

pljnx, if you ever find yourself in Pensacola, Fl., the US Navy Aviation museum is by far the best one I have ever been to. We have The Mighty Eight Museum here in Savannah, very good but you can do it in an afternoon. I have been to the Air and Space museum in Washington D.C. but none of them compare to the one in Pensacola.

Here is a link:

http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/

And a taste of what is inside:

http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/g...ibits-(1).aspx

The place is frigging huge and if you go on a holiday or a weekend, crowded. You can do it in a day by skimming through exhibits if you get there early when it opens, but it is best to do it over 2 full committed days. Worth the trip. Just thought I would share.
