Cellar Millions

Remember that old Richard Pryor movie Brewster's Millions? If I remember correctly the premise was that a rich uncle had died and had no one else to leave the money to except for Pryor. Before Pryor could inherit the bulk of the money he had to spend $30,000,000 in 30 days. He had all kinds of rules about what he could spend it on, but the important part was that it all must be spent.

If you had 30 days to spend $30,000,000 what would you spend it on? So that we don't all feel compelled to be altruistic, no more than $5,000,000 can go to charities.

Go!

Wasn't that movie made in the 80s? Should we adjust for inflation?

fair enough. let's call it twenty years worth, so you now have to spend $60MM in 30 days. Still only $5MM to charity.

Ouch. I should have kept my mouth shut.

Can I buy some art? How about a few paintings at 100k a pop? Can I buy more than one of something? Can I hire an expensive attorney?

Case - you're working too hard here. You can buy anything you want, we'll discard the rule about not owning anything. BUT you can't spend more than $5MM on any one thing that you will still own after 30 days.

I'd buy 60 bomb resistant military hummers and have a smash up derby that you would not soon forget.

I liked the part in that movie where he bought the most expensive, rarest stamp he could find, and then mailed it.

Personally, I'd buy one national super bowl ad. That would be cool.
