Talking Salad VS Vegetables

So your at the bistro for a counter lunch, chicken schnitzel and chips w/ gravy .. YUM! then the lady with the grubby apron questions you.. " ya want salad or veges wif that luv?"

What do you choose and why?

Pesonally, i ALWAYS go with the veges. Yum.. usually its potato mashed, couliflour graten, carrots peas and a piece of pumpkin. Why anyone would go for limp lettuce and soggy tomato and cucumber has me beat, but my partner always has the salad, and cant understand how i dont.

IMO when you eat salad, you dont get fed. Get the vegies,,, something to sink your teeth into!!

I'll take raw spinach over any veggie. But, what passes for salad in most restaurants (iceberg lettuce is about as nutritious as bleached sawdust and hydroponic tomatoes - ugh), is a joke so I'd opt for veggies although they aren't much better unless they are raw or grilled.

Veggies and Salad arent' for filling up they are just vitamin delivery vehicles.

Meat and potatoes are for filling up.

Buying lettuce = 85 calories
Eating lettuce = 90 calories
lettuce = 5 calories p/ kg

In America it's not an either-or ... we get veggies and salad with our deep fried chicken with extra thick country gravy.

I prefer the Japanese method of taking one single unit of every major vegetable, coating it with a light, airy batter, and deep-frying the living crap out of it.

There's one in Lancaster. We've successfully avoided them all over the country though. I'd rather eat out of Dunkin' Donuts dumpster.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm Dunkin Donuts. Sometimes, the donuts are still warm when they toss them out. I have the best luck around 9:30 am on Tuesdays. They keep forgetting about the all-hands meeting at the local precinct and wind up with too many extra. I bring my own sprinkles because they tend to come off in the bag. Top it off with found MD 20-20 and a Swisher Sweet stub or two and I'm good till lunchtime! Life is good.
