My parents wouldn't have even blinked at seeing this on a kids bike.
I wouldn't have either, although I would have scoffed at 50 pellets lasting very long. But I suspect today there would be a considerably large number of adults having conniptions over this.

I'd bet that ad was earlier, probably the 50's.
