Who stole the birdseed?

Bonnie bought a bag of birdseed. She left it in her apartment (#5) before she went to work, intending to fill the feeder that afternoon. But when she got back, the bag of birdseed was gone!
There were four other people living in the same apartment building as her, all of whom were avid birdwatchers like Bonnie. One of them must have done it. Look at the clues below. If you know everybody's name, apartment number (#1 through #4), and favourite bird, you will know who is guilty.

1. The guilty person's apartment number is not numbered one higher or one lower than Hal's.
2. Joe's favourite bird is the crow; his apartment number is one lower than that of Ike (who doesn't like robins).
3. The guilty person's apartment is not #3 (the number of the finch-lover's).
4. Gil is neither at apartment #1 nor the wren-lover.

Who did it?

***SPOILERS (POSSIBLY)***

Working

1) Bonnie must be #5 and assumes she didn't steal the birdseed
2) Hal can only be #4

//EDIT2: Okay, Hal can also be #3 which would be like this:

Bonnie
Gil: Robin
Hal: Finch
Ike: Wren
Joe: Crow//

3) Therefore, the only combination is of the following:

Bonnie
Hal
Not guilty: Finch
Guilty
Guilty

4) If this is so, Gil can be either like this:

Bonnie
Hal
Not guilty: Finch
Gil
Guilty

OR

Bonnie
Hal
Gil: Finch
Guilty
Guilty

5) But since Joe and Ike have to be consecutive floors, the first Gil hypothesis is out. Therefore:

Bonnie
Hal
Gil: Finch
Ike
Joe: Crow

6) Ike does not like robins, therefore, the only logical conclusion is:

Bonnie
Hal: Robin
Gil: Finch
Ike: Wren
Joe: Crow
[hr]
But I don't see who's the culprit though. Eh, unless there's some weird reason like some birds don't eat birdseed, that kinda thing. Heheh...

//EDIT: Okay, crows are mainly carrion-eaters, which means they don't eat birdseed. So Joe would have no reason to steal birdseeds if he wanted to attract crows. I also checked: Wrens eat birdseed. Soooo... my bet is on Ike.

PS. Note the irony that a Bonnie (ie. myself) has solved (if I really got it right!) Bonnie's mystery... =P//

//EDIT2: Okay, I can see how Gil and Hal might be interchangeable. That would mean Ike is not the theif but Joe. But the questions says that you'll know the answer when you match person with bird??? So I think my working has more sense... ^_^;;;;;;//

I have no answers so I can only hope you can find clear workings? ^_^;;;

I used to love these kinds of puzzles, even had a friend that wrote them for Dell Puzzles for a while.

Despite my enjoyment of the Inspector Parker Game on Yahoo Games, largely because I can play it at work, I don't have the kind of patience this requires.

Oh, and the answer?

Griff did it. It's non-siliac birdseed, and is about the only thing he can eat.

My guess:

1 Hal wren - Guilty
2 Joe crow
3 Ike finch
4 Gil robin

Yep. The problem requires making the unjustified assumption that because the guilty party isn't in the apartment numbered one higher or lower than Hal's, that Hal must be in 2 or 3.

I (obviously) did not make that assumption. I did use the assumption about (what wrens eat), mentioned in the white text.
