4/3/2006: Stacked cans

In another thread title that sounds dirty but isn't, axlrosen (and I think someone else...?) points to this gallery of can stacking work.

I believe these were part of a commercial competition but can't remember the details of it.

Doesn't really matter, they are impressive nonetheless.

I used to work in the grocery biz and they would sometimes take the time to build a display, but never anything like this.

The installations themselves are so impressive, it pains me to post the tacky official web site, but here we go: http://www.canstruction.org/indexi.html

Nice. I like the mermaid.

Are those empty or full cans? If full, do they donate the goods after the show?

Hi UT, I know I suggested it to you some time back, maybe someone else did, too.

Interesting thing is that they are very limited on what they can use to secure the cans or hold them in position.

If you go to the mentioned website and click on the About and then What's Canstruction PPT you get a pretty good slide show that tells all about how the competition works.

Very impressive. This really took some patience and even more talent.

Bet they could sell bowling tickets at an inflated price. Guess that's the mischievious side of me I can't seem to outgrow.

Wonderful IOTD. Gotta love this place. I've seen more art here in a few years than I've seen my whole life, it seems. Thank you, Tony.

By wierd coincidence the Cobra cans are one of the pics shown on the Abrutis website that supplied the pics that I added earlier in the Photoshop Frenzy thread...

They probably take 'em back to the store and sell 'em.
I wonder if there's any product placement money here?
