Horror

What.

Must.

This.

Man.

Dream?

Enter the world of Zdzislaw Beksinski. Do you find it beautiful, terrifying, or both?

Is it art, or madness?

Personally, I find it compellingly beautiful.

Very cool. Strong Giger elements.

I like the last picture with the man who has a lot of fingers. I actually drew a picture like that when I went through my artsy phase. It was a picture of Jimi Hendrix playing guitar, and he had about 12 fingers on each hand- ofcourse, he wasn't a skeleton.
The rest, I find disturbing. They are dark and depressing. The main theme seems to me to be death.

Fascinatingly organic.

I don't see him as Ggigerish as you do, HM ... there's a quality of line and style and draftsmanship to Giger's work that Beksinski doesn't seem to have. His work is beyond neat, though!

I looked through a couple of the gallery pages, and it finally hit me ... this is the kind of picture that Harlan Ellison would sit in a store window and write a short story about.

I also thought that several of these pieces would not have been out of place as story lead ins in Omni Magazine, before the UFO wierdos took over.

Does it make me weird that I didn't find these works horrific at all? I don't really know how to explain it, but it was more like what a world of our dead ancestors might look like. None of the beings pictured seemed like they were coming after me or anything...they just looked - well - dead. Sort of like some of my neighbors.

This one is my favourite, I think.

I think these two are the scariest:

But I think his art is utter brilliance. It is originally creatative and makes its beauty clear because of the unique style of his art.

I'm just glad someone had a camera there at my last family reunion.

Absolutely beautiful.. I find good abstract art to be like looking into the clouds. You can persuade your mind to see all sorts of things.

Oh crikey.
I could deal with the rest of them. But that is going to be in my dreams tonight.

leathered face wet tongue no eyes twisted blindly seeking larger than life coming after me mouth to bite and two wet tongues to lick and lick and lick
