Nationwide Treasure Hunt!

I just heard the author of this book on the radio. It's about a treasure hunt and to promote the book, he's created a real life treasure hunt!

"Clues to the first-ever national treasure hunt for $1 million in jewels are cleverly hidden in the pages of A Treasure's Trove a classically-written fairy tale by Michael Stadther.

In order to find the clues, you don't need any special knowledge. If you can read, you can discover the exact location of each treasure, just the way one of the characters does in the Treasure's Trove story.

Once you find the clues, begin your hunt for the twelve 18K gold tokens, redeemable for the real treasure - 12 jewels with a combined value of $1 million! (Each token is redeemable for one jewel.) The tokens have been hidden throughout the continental USA in 12 separate locations, one located not more than a day's drive from where you live.

The tokens are not hidden on private property or in dangerous places, but in places accessible to everyone. The tokens are not buried. Nothing has to be moved or lifted to find them."

A local radio station did something like this, albeit on a much smaller scale. They hid $1000 checks around the listening area and gave clues on the air. People actually lost their jobs driving around looking for the check instead of working. This looks like fun, but just watch - if it takes off, wolf will be putting three to a bed where she works.

There were a couple of these kinds of treasure hunts back in the 80s. I never did hear if anyone ever found the missing whatevers, which ranged from a golden unicorn to cases of alcohol. (wasn't it Seagrams?)

This stupid book is making my brain hurt. And reading the blogs from other "hunters" makes it hurt worse. I WILL find one of these damn things!

If anyone has any clues, feel free to send them along.
