Who have you pissed off today?

I totally managed to piss off my third son after a lengthy discussion about admission to university undergrad and grad programs. We covered a current SCOTUS case, my personal experience, and his experience. Needless to say, as these three instances cover four decades and two countries, the details didn't produce a comfortable synthesis.

Have you recently attempted a serious conversation with all good intentions and ended up with everyone irritated beyond belief?

Yep. Happens with my teenagers fairly frequently, although my version of pissed off may be different to others.

Aden in particular gets pissed off really quickly, and he really needs to work on his coping skills in that instance. Probably I do too. One thing I will say though is that if I let him go and sort his shit out in peace, he usually gets over it pretty quickly. Much more so than me actually. So with that in mind, I've actually been trying to hold a grudge for less time too. It makes things easier.

I guess our kids teach us a lot if we just stop to think about things instead of sitting there analysing them in depth.

Yeah, for the past 17 years. Not into it these days though. So far...

Yeah. I gave that shit up about a decade ago.

Seriously: about half my conversations with J were like that when we lived together. Even now as friends, from time to time an innocent, though serious conversation will spiral into conflict. Rare these days, but unsettling when it happens.

Nowadays I live alone with my dog (no kids) and interact with the world and its other inhabitants more or less entirely on my own terms...
