We are working on his speech now. Its a lot harder to do, emotionally, than either of us expected.

Good for him, Classic, and you. That takes courage. You're right to be proud.

Sorta related but off topic for thread, I may be getting a little one with a TBI in my classroom. Someone closer to his district might get him but I'd like the challenge so we'll see.

Challenging, but very rewarding, I say. I really hope it works out for you Griff.

Sortaaside - Things have been happening here that have astounded me. And I mean in just the past couple weeks. The type of things the "know-it-all" docs & all said would NEVER happen. Can't wait to stick that in their face next meeting

Congrats Griff and the grifflets.
Mine has turned to VERY nervous. 3 more speeches booked in less than 2 weeks and another at a rather prestigious local university pending. Apparently he is in demand at the moment.

Can I borrow this thread for a moment? I'm not a parent, but I want to use it as a Proud Aunt thread because I don't want to start a new thread.

My nephew, recently graduated from Univ of KY, and having completed Officer Candidate School, will be commissioned in the Marines as a Second Lieutenant, tomorrow. He will probably be a pilot (I'm unclear as to if there's a "second" choice and if pilot is set in stone...but that's been the path.)

You can see what an accomplishment this is, and you can imagine how proud we all are of him. He's a neat young man: smart, funny, good-looking, strong. It's hard to believe he's the kid who was dubbed Monkey Boy because he climbed everything in sight when he was little.

We hired a tutor for our daughter to help her with the trombone. The guy's really good. I knew he was in a military band, but today my wife heard him casually mention to our daughter that he played for the President earlier today.
