I petted one of the flying squirrels in the chicken coop two nights ago. Then I looked up and saw 5 more looking at me...

I am going to execute some gray squirrels because they actually bother the chickens.

As in eating eggs and chicks?

There was an aggressive squirrel that used to defeat the bird-feeders in our back garden; one morning we looked out and realized he/she was munching on the wing of a dead bird!

Turns out gray squirrels will happily eat animal matter when it's available, including eggs and nestlings.

They hit the food hard during the day while the chickens are eating. I didn't know they would eat eggs, that's a problem.

Squirrels are actually omnivores. Fruits and nuts are easiest 'prey' so they primarily eat those, but they'll go after eggs in bird's nests and hatchlings if they figure it's easy enough. That's why birds will pitch a fit about a squirrel near a brooding mom or chicks.
