He was removed for going over time, not his questions.
He resisted being removed and then being cuffed. That is why he was tazed. I think he was tazed too much, but the first time was fine. You don't resist arrest. He had not been searched and the cops had no idea what he had on him, his level of training or what he was capable of/had in mind. He needed to comply. It is actually that simple. I know this sounds odd coming from me, but he was out of line and resisted arrest, what do you expect the cops to do, buy him a brownie? |

I think a lot of people online who were upset about the incident have exaggerated ideas about how dangerous tasers are. It isn't what I'd call safe, sane and consentual, but it sure beats the good old-fashioned billy club or gun butt method. |

I found it interesting how many similarities there were between this and the episode in the college library (I think UCLA?) several months ago. Both of these guys kept yelling for attention from bystanders, and insisting, "I'm going to get up and walk out! I'll walk out!!" except not doing it. Even down to the lone girl screeching "Stop doing that!" in his defense.

He was misbehaving. I have not seen a clear video yet but he was already taken down, so I'd think the taser was not necessary. Is this what comes from hiring people incapable of doing a job?

The cops were holding him down. A taser was not justified. Neither would have been billy clubs or gun butts. Or what tasers are supposed to be the replacement for, a pistol shot.

Certainly the kid was out to make trouble, that's evident from his tone of voice from the very beginning. And according to Kerry the kid "barged to the front of the line" before the camera even swung over to him. Maybe the cops overreacted, maybe they didn't.The bottom line is, you weren't there. For a sample reaction from people who were, listen to the large portion of the audience that applauds as they first try to escort him out. |
