That's a bummer, Jim. Did you end up taking the heat from the customer over this?
Not much to say, really. I consoled her? We specifically signed that we weren't paying her miles. we didn't make any profit in the deal with which to do it if we had. Fucking lady was on the edge of tears though.

shit

That you care about it shows there is honesty out there.

Poor lady. Sounds like something that would happen to me.

And, credit card companies sitting on your payment to squeeze a little more interest out of you (pending bank approval? Hello fuckers, this is 2009, and my bank already shows the payment, lying motherfuckers) burn my ass.

Ugghhh, Is it the salesman or you that explains that paperwork to her? Either way, I guess there's not a lot you can do - sucks for everyone.

It's Capital One...locked up by my car rental this morning...though payment of most of it sent through bank.

I hate them, and I don't hate any capitalist greedy pigs.

Captial One - they suck ass the same way 5/3 bank sucks ass.

I fired both those companies and am much, much happier for it.

may they, along with insurance companies, burn in hell.

I never leased a car and never will. All is usually well till they screw you on the turn in. Maybe times have changed a bit but it is still not worth the deal to me.

leasing can be a very smart move. if you're not realistic about the miles you will drive you can get fucked hard. with no grease.

if you're gonna put 25K per year on it, the best thing you can do is to lease it. Just make sure you're getting a 25k/year lease and you'll be fine. the payment should still be less than a 60 month buy...or maybe the same....but at the end of 3 years, you walk away from that 75k mile car. the guy that bought it has to pray that they are breaking even against their payoff. or keep it and pay for the repairs/maintenance.

Here's what burned my ass last night

The house on the corner (one away from us) and it's neighbor to the west had garages that burned to the ground last night. No one knows whether the fire started in the dumpster that's in one of the driveways which blew the transformer on the pole above it or if the transformer blew sparking a fire in dumpster.

Either way the power line was down and arcing which set the garages on fire. Our house was cordoned off due to the proximity and I wasn't able to get back in until almost one. No power for us until later today or tomorrow.

Here's a pic I took. The garages you don't see behind the van are the ones that burned down.

Yes, fortunately. If the wind had been up last night, we could have been in a tight spot.

We lease our car through Dazza's job. The cost of the lease is taken out pre-tax so of course it reduces his gross income hence less tax. We only pay about $100/week, and that includes fuel, rego, insurance and servicing on a 2008 Toyota Camry. We could not possibly run a car for less than that.

We stick to our miles pretty closely, so we don't have to pay extra tax either way usually.
