Newsfeed Access

I noticed the other day on the news they were celrly a little shot of footage and had a shot of a comptuer screen with what looked like a Reuters/AP newsfeed program. For some reason this facinated me, any idea waht it is, where you can get it, how many tens of thousands it costs per year etc? The closest i've been able to find to it is http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wire/ which seems to be basicly a transcription of it but damnit, i want that program.

I don't think Jag meant "newsfeed" in the Usenet sense, which is what it's always meant here on The Cellar (one of the important draws this place had in the BBS days was it's USENET newsfeed.)

I think he's talking about the commercial news wire services, as used to be delivered via teletype. Hence Reuters, AP.

Well, then Jag, you may want to download the desktop news "ticker" from the homepage of: http://www.reuters.com/

Although, I think the service you saw on CNN was: http://www.pointcast.com/ if you can believe that one's back.

Well, I could be smart and mention Naked News tho actually I don't know if they have a feed as such.

The BBC has a desktop ticker-type thingy too. And Channel 10, the Philadelphia NBC affiliate, has one too--they pop up alerts about traffic or weather emergencies.
