"Trailing a thick column of exhaust, the Space Shuttle Columbia blasted into the twilight morning sky on March 1, its thundering rockets briefly flooding a cloud bank with the light of a false dawn. The event marked the start of the ongoing eleven day mission to upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope. Hubble's upgrades include the installation of new solar arrays and a new camera. Columbia's crew is scheduled to complete the work today in the last of five space walks. Columbia's launch also marks the first flight of the oldest operating space shuttle after receiving extensive upgrades itself, designed to increase its capabilities for missions to low Earth orbit. The shuttle landing is expected at Kennedy Space Center on March 12."

It's almost sexual I think.

I'm glad to see that they relaunched Columbia. I hadn't heard anything about it in quite some time, and was wondering if they laid it to rest.

They were showing some video from the helmet cam (or cams) of an astronaut on the morning news this week. And it wasn't the slower speed that I'm used to seeing...it was very vivid and detailed. I thought it was pretty neat.

If you have broadband, check out streaming NASA TV. The 300kbps stream is showing at 30frames/sec!

I was watching them repair the Hubble live while the shuttle was flying above my head

Just think of all the future IotD's Tony could pull from there... though resolution is probably a little low. Maybe if it were 1024x768

Argh, am I the only one getting a "red x" on this? Been that way ever since the day it was posted and I've tried checking it out a couple of times since too.
