Don't worry, I used to live in Earls Court - I can stalk strine with the best of them...

BTW Shawnee - sod's law is just the principle that things will always go wrong when it is most important that they don't. In other words the evening I least want to be interrupted by a senior member of staff is the evening I am most likely to be - according to the law of sod.

Wow, the accents really change things for me. SundaeGirl, I always read your posts with a British accent, but your voice is a lot breathier than I imagined. UT, you definitely sound like you're on the East coast, this will totally change how I hear your posts in my head.

Awesome thread! I have no video recording options, but maybe I can work up an audio recording at least...

So sod's law is the same as Murphy's law, correct?

Of course I don't count myself as having an accent, although people here (Leics) think I'm right posh. And yes, I am naturally breathy - when I have a cold I sound like that kid from Malcolm in the Middle

I'm pretty damn good at identifying British & Antipodean accents (could never mistake a Kiwi for an Aussie!) but hopeless at American accents unless they're really strong. Looking forward to hearing some Southern & Western accents certainly.

Murphy's Law! I knew there was an international equivilant - just couldn't think of what it was.

That's hysterical. People around here are always asking where I'm originally from, since it obviously can't be Texas with my accent. It's pretty bland midwest, with a hint of New Jersey from my dad. My voice is pretty low for a woman's though, not as low as Kathleen Turner but I was told as a 13-year-old that I had a "smoker's voice."

ashke, you remind me a lot of my friend Amanda.

(well, except that you said "ciao" and she would have said "bye"... but the inflection is pretty similar)
