We held off this year, as did most of the neighbors, due to the drought and high fire risk. Usually every year a large group of friends and connected friends, around 50 or so, get together and shoot off about $200-300 worth of fireworks all at once. Great fun. I miss it.

we did the typical cookout stuff - it's been seriously dry - so we didn't do fireworks - also it's against the law - but that hasn't stopped us before - we also have a big display downtown off of a bridge.

to buy fireworks here in Ohio, but you have to provide an out of state address to take them to because they're illegal in Ohio. We're so close to the PA line, people usually provide a PA address. And, of course, they're illegal in PA too. WTF, I still don't understand how that works.
I get to sit on my front porch and watch my looney neighbor set off the really good fireworks every 4th. This is a real family affair. Everybody they know and their kids....drink all night and set off fireworks. afterwards, a bunch of them go 4-wheeling, tearing up and down the road until all hours. If it happened more than once a year, I'd probably get cranky. |
