shitty music on YouTube

If somebody tells you that all the good music was in the 60s and early 70s...

Tell them...

"How did you know? You were fucking high!"

At least it wasn't lip-synched...

Oh. Here's the lipsynched version.

OK maybe both were faked. But the first one is more accurate!

Barely recognizable. Someone has it in for Canned Heat.

The Woodstock version is a decent tune.

Well the dude *does* have to flip his recorder around... and there's no way a recorder is going to sound good at all since it can't be tuned... the original was flute

I'd assume they were goofing on it, because they knew it'd be dubbed... and they were so high.

It turns out to be some rogue group redoing the sound for the videos. I'm certain that they got the recorder part right though. Just the fact that they used a recorder instead of a flute convinced me!

Boing Boing entry.

I can't believe LRS is on Boing Boing! I used to be friends with one of the band (since lost touch), and when he explained the concept to me, I couldn't believe how brilliant and deranged it was at the same time. Of course, it sounds awful - but in some ways you can only meta enjoy it. If you haven't checked out the site, the idea is that the band listens to the original song via noise-blocking headphones. They can't hear each other... or even themselves. They just play their heart out to the music. So what you get isn't perhaps aurally pleasing, but what they are giving you is totally from the gut - possibly moreso than any other band.

try this for size:

I never thought it was possible to make this song worse, but the backing track and images are... well... you need to see it.
