Wink Nutritive Value of Foods

Some of us are trying to lose weight and get in better shape. Ha Ha at me!
Here's a link to all about food. Carbs, salt, pot, Etc. On left side is a link to
Bulletin No. 72 (HG-72) , which has more whatever.
I'm trying to cut back on salt. WTF. Do ya ever read the labels? Salt up the ya-ya.

Salt out the ying-yang too.

I was bragging to my mom that I didn't have to cut salt that I am IMPERVIOUS to salt. Then she used their blood pressure checker on me. The darn thing almost squeezed my arm off. I was seriously hitting the off button because it was hurting so much. Then when it worked my BP was skyhigh. Well yeah, duh, no wonder, I was almost killed by a home medical device.

But I guess I'm not so impervious to salt.

(Wait. What? Pot?)

Try My Fitness Pal to help you track what you eat. People who log their food lose twice as much as those who don't. In MFP, you can choose to track nutrients such as salt, sugar, fiber, cholesterol, etc. Whatever floats your boat.

I am much more of a salt person than sweets. Give me olives, salted nuts, cheese, pickles, etc. And just watch me bloat up like a damn blimp!!

Look me up, if you decide to try it. Stormiweather, of course. I'm on it every day!

Infi, over the last ten years I've had my blood pressure checked FAR too many times.
When I was in mental health daycare it was checked twice a day. I hate it, have always hated it and the new electronic ones I hate most of all.

I've never got why other people don't find it distressing.
Now you do, and perversely I'm glad.
Feeling like I'm going to 'splode sets me right off.

buster, as a semi-professional yo-yo dieter I read food labels obsessively.
I am well aware of salt levels.
And yes, some are shocking. You get less salt in a small packet of Ready Salted crisps (chips) than you do in a bowl of tinned tomato soup.
Many breakfast cereals contain salt.
Bread can be surprisingly high too.

When I went on a wholefood diet (too extreme, couldn't stick to it) I became very aware of salt. I had a hamburger as a treat and nearly gagged. The sweetness of the bun and ketchup, the saltiness of the burger - overwhelming. Truly disgusting. But I might eat one tomorrow when I am in town because I lost that clarity of taste.

When I am paying attention I do avoid salty products.
Which means I check labels, when really I should be cooking from scratch.
We have a traffic lights system here, which does help. I won't buy products with an amber light for salt. Let's face it, I befoul my body enough in other ways, and I don't crave salt.

Well, nobody wants salt in their ya-ya, but, who don't enjoy a salty ying-yang every now and then?

I'm not averse to a protein shake now and then.

There is much more salt in food over here. No wonder Americans think British food is bland. There is also much more sugar. Salt is way harder to cut than calories. fortunately I haven't needed to, but my ceramics teacher had a heart valve replacement and needed to cut it almost completely from his diet. Raw vegetables and water was about it.
