Seems like if you just hardened your systems with electronic shielding and good grounding, you would be able to defeat this threat. I thought we already did this to protect us from the EMP made by a nuke going off at high altitude.

Civilian stuff would be toast, but the military stuff should be good, shouldn't it?

Hard to say, they seem pretty confident.
It would probably take out terrorists, and the Tea Party using ordinary computers and cell phones to overthrow the government, though.

Tight fit.

I like how the 'little' A-10's engines are almost as big as the C-5's! I know the A-10 is well in the foreground, but, still.

With everyone and their brother now owning at least one AR-type rifle, I thought it would be nice to learn how to clean them properly.

The Winchester Model 1897 Trench w/bayonet adapter and heat shield.

This is the takedown version.

Quote:
Although the Model 1897 was popular with American troops in World War I, the Germans soon began to protest its use in combat. "On 19 September 1918, the German government issued a diplomatic protest against the American use of shotguns, alleging that the shotgun was prohibited by the law of war." A part of the German protest read; "It is especially forbidden to employ arms, projections, or materials calculated to cause unnecessary suffering". "This is the only known occasion in which the legality of actual combat use of the shotgun has been raised."

Interesting. I was surprised to see that the barrel of the rifle did not get any cleaning attention. Surely it too accumulates residue/schmutz/whatever that needs to be cleaned periodically, no?

From one of them there 'heritage flights' what happens at the end of the airshow.

Top down: P-38 Lightning, A-10 Thunderbolt II (more commonly known as the A-10 'Warthog'), F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F-22 Raptor.

Amazing they can all fly stably at the same speed. I'd think the jets would start to stall at the P-38's speed.

I thought the P-38 could do about 500 mph, but, Wiki says it tops out at about 443 mph in war trim. Wiki doesn't list stall speed for the Raptor, but, what with vectoring nozzles and such, I would guess it's stall speed to be very low. It can probably fly slower than the Lightning.

ETA: Wiki lists the P-38's stall speed as 105 mph, so...maybe not.

The Falcon would probably stall somewhere around 140 mph (depending on angle of attack), as takeoff speed is 138-148 mph, minimum.

ETA: Wiki states the stall speed for the Warthog as 138 mph.
