Infinite Monkey, the reason leftists inhabit the left of center portion of the spectrum is a demonstrable want of psychological maturity -- most often expressed in a seeking of a parent-figure in the State. Nanny State or Daddy State -- it's roughly the same thing. Do you really think you or for that matter any leftward sort has the standing to tell Classicman to grow up? Maybe it went without saying -- but yeah. Sorta. Though likelier the blame really lies in the universal human tendency to hear not so much what somebody said, as the interior inputs of what the listener thinks and hears already -- that every received communication goes through the filter of the self before it gets anywhere near the reading-comprehension level.

It's a nuisance, as the only way to avoid it is to have no self nor memories at all. Which would be sort of like turning into a walking telephone, or other communications apparatus. Doesn't sound practical.
