Pending confirmation from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, I have been selected by the School of History as one of their four candidates for a full fees and full maintenance grant scholarship. This the one. The Biggie. I am so pleased.

I am now all fired up for my research again. Just been checking out some secondary source materials to gen up on military structures and so forth. I did a module last year on it, but really need a more technical bent now. Fortunately my MA supervisor is still around (hasnt gone off for his hols yet) and he has some belting suggestions. Also been mucking about at the national Archives site. Seems most of the records I need are down at Kew, so may have to wait til I can get down there for a research trip. Got some excellent 18th C newspaper notices of deserters online though. (of course this is less helpful for catching up on my dayjob work...lol)
