Lucifer

Who else is watching this?

I think I posted in the streaming thread but i think the show deserves its own thread. Especially now the meta story has started to go deeper.

I freakin love this show. I'm not at full-blown addiction on account of watching it weekly as it airs, rather than bingeing on back catalogue (which I am currently doing with The 100 - holy crap, totally into that btw), but I am really enjoying it and kind of liking stringing out the fun - I usually resent having to wait a week between episodes of a show I like, but recently I've been rediscovering the joys of weeks of speculating in between episodes on a few shows.

Anyhow - for those who might not have seen it, here are a few promos and clips.

It's based on the comic book character, first created by Neil Gaiman, as part of another story and then taken on by someone else for a series of graphic novels. The premise is simple enough - Lucifer got bored with being the devil, and is having a kind of existential crisis as he tries to figure out if he is the devil because he is inherently evil, or simply because his father gave him that role.

So, he retires from being Lord of Hell and opens a club in Los Angeles.

Last week's episode really jumped the story into a higher gear, I thought. First few epis were fun, but were more about character and scene setting, the last couple have brought the larger story arc more into focus and I really like where they seem to be going with the world building too.

My favourite scene from last week's episode: I don't think this is massively spoilery...

I have a question (potential spoiler material), highlight to read the question:

Concerning the March 7th (in the U.S.) episode:

Do you think Lucifer burned the fake angel wings from the auction, or do you think he burned his actual angel wings? I'm leaning toward the fakes.

I think this line's mostly filler.

Based veeeeeeeery loosely. His personality is COMPLETELY different. And, in the comic, he has a very definite purpose and goal, of breaking out of predestination. Though, he may have acted more rudderless before the opportunity arose.

But it works in the show.

In answer to your question, Grav, I hope the former - be a shame to introduce something that cool and then let it go so fast.

Another excellent episode this week. I like the way the case of the week is literally a way for Lucifer to work through his own issues. They're playing with the weekly procedural format in a really cheeky way.

Spoiler in white:

On the one hand I am a little concerned with the way Lucifer's relationship with Maeze is going - this seems like something that might seriously hurt him. On the other hand I am really glad he now knows about his brother's therapy shennanigans

I gotta say, this is the show that I currently anticipate the most throughout the week. Other shows might beat it out on artistic merit (ie, Better Call Saul), but Lucifer is really fun.
