I'll second the swimming one, but when I was a nipper at school it was on the syllabus, has that changed? And that credit equals debt and ought to be avoided, I know intelligent young people who just don't get that it has to be repaid someday... Oh and the obvious one about education and learning being the key to change.

You're spot on, there. I don't think there is a bigger, more important, lesson for most people.

I found out recently that one of my best friends, at age 22, didn't know how to fill up the gas tank of a car. I can't even drive, but at least I can pump gas.
I also think people should know basic nutrition. The things that people believe about eating are pretty ridiculous -- for instance, that eating fat is that only thing that makes you fat, and that meat is the only substantial source of protein. |

Somewhere, somehow, the distinction between the substances you put in your mouth, and the substances your body builds out of the materials it gets after breaking that other stuff down, has been lost. I point to the cow: a big mountain of meat, that eats GRASS.

I took a CPR class, had to to be a certified lifegaurd. can't say I remember any of it.
But truthfully? The only thing humans NEED to know is how to choose the peaceful choice in a situation. |
