Video of new watch

So I picked up a new watch this weekend. It was one of those 'shiny shiny, neat, cool' guy moments that are the one reason I can't rib my wife about her attraction to shoes, purses, etc.

I bought it at a shopping channel outlet store at a significant reduction from the hideously inflated 'on-air' price that no sane person would pay, This means I got it for what would be considered a normal price in any other store.

Anyway, I thought it would be a good test subject for a video project. I took a few seconds of video of the front and back with my still camera, converted the .MOV file to .AVI, and used AVISynth and VirtualDub to create a side-by-side compressed video. The first part did not take long at all, and I've had VirtualDub for a while. It was figuring out how to use AVISynth to get VirtualDub to do the side-to-side part that took over an hour.

So without further ado, my new toy.

That's a pretty cool watch. I'd like one just like it.

Nice job on the clip too.

Thanks. I should mention that this is an oversize watch about 1 1/2 times the size of a standard men's watch.

The video was a good test for my software. I actually crashed one of the converters that I downloaded from Giveaway of the Day.

Oh, damn, that's a sweet timepiece. I love the traditional gears-n-cogs.

Why does it appear that the escape wheel is not turning?
